For more general information about our Type 4 cylinder head product line please see the "General cylinder head information pages". Frequently asked questions about these heads, answered: The 7416 IS compatible with stock D and L Jetronic EFI systems. The 7416 WILL work excellent with otherwise 100% stock engines. The 7416 will work with unaltered valve train and stock pushrods with no interchange issues. The 7416 is NOT available for original 1700cc engines that have RETAINED THEIR 90mm bore size. The 7416 will also bolt onto 2056cc engines with their 96mm bore size The 7416 will bolt directly onto any 1.8-2.0 Type 4 based engine that has a 93-94mm bore size. The 7416 has benefited from valve seat upgrades to eliminate dropped valve seats and related issues. The 7416 does NOT utilize the stock head gaskets as original. These heads are set up to eliminate issues with these gaskets, per the VW Bulletin released in 1981. The 7416 cylinder head is one of only two of our original head designs that have remained through the "New Generation" changes in our cylinder head program. This is due in part to the fact that this head is less labor intense and over the years it has provided excellent reliability and performance for our smaller displacement engines, therefore a change to this member of our cylinder head product line was not needed. The 7416 would be considered a great updated cylinder head for a 100% stock engine that needs a bit broader power and some added low end performance. These heads have been employed with a 100% stock combination in the past and netted a whopping 8% power gain with no other changes being made to the engine! This power gain was not noted just at peak torque and HP, but across the engine's usable RPM range and that is a very notable power increase, especially for an otherwise 100% stock Bus engine! The 7416 is the best arrangement for applications where hi port velocity is needed to compliment an engine's combination for a certain application, like a Bay window Bus. The 7416 is standard equipment on our "Camper Special" engine kits and works well with it's updated valve sizes and stock intake and exhaust ports. The larger valves coupled to the stock ports give amazing velocity that really helps the throttle response and low end performance of engines up to 2165cc. The 7416 head is the head of choice for our 1911 and 2056cc engine kits as well as the Camper Special engine kit. These heads offer a great bang for the buck! As with all of our cylinder heads the 7416 receives the best components and labor that can be supplied. All our cylinder heads feature updated valve seats, guides, springs and retainers and are sold 100% complete and ready to install onto your Type 4 engine. Please note that rocker arm assemblies and valve covers are not supplied with our cylinder heads, but they are available separately through our retail store. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical specifications for the RAT 7416 cylinder heads: Head casting type- NEW 1.8/ 2.0L Bus castings Combustion chamber shape- 2.0L bus, non modified Combustion chamber volume- 50cc+/- for 2.0 castings, 55cc +/- for 1.8 castings Spark plug location- original 1.7/ 1.8/ 2.0 location, plugs are NOT relocated as with some of our "Leading edge" offerings Valve sizes- 42mm Intake/ 36mm Exhaust Port work- As cast, only clean up procedures completed Valve type- Stainless Steel Valve Springs- RAT single heavy duty Retainers- Chromoly steel Intake manifold pattern- original 4 stud pattern, no alterations made.
