I had purchased a Vintage Speedster with a Type 1 engine about a year and a half ago. The Speedster was a great car except it didn't have the HP of a sports car. I was surfing the web looking for options and also looked at some of the type 4 engines in VW magazines. This is how I came to find Jake Raby. What impressed me about Jake was that he built and tested each engine and used the best parts that could be found. I gave Jake a call and went over what I had and he addressed all my concerns. My mind was made up and I purchased a 2270cc.

When I was just about finished installing the engine, Jake said he was coming down to Florida on vacation and would stop over to help me finish the last few items and look at my work. Jake came over, and we got the engine started. It fired right up! We were going to take a test drive, but my oil cooler started to leak where I inserted the temperature probe. Now Jake coming over to see me shows his dedication to his customers.

I've had the engine running for about 5 months now. This is a great engine with power to spare. The other day Jake asked me if I had taken it to 6,500 RPM. The answer was no. Today I took up to red line and the acceleration is nothing but awesome. I now have a Speedster with looks and the performance to match.

For those looking for a Type 4 engine, you should give Jake Raby serious consideration. You will be buying from a man who cares about his work and cares about his customers. Take a look at my Speedster and engine on Jake's web site and if you are in Florida, send me an e-mail and you can see a Raby Type 4 up close and on the road.
