fuel injection from us.
Now that all engines built at
our sister company, www.aircooledtechnology.com will experience the
benefits of EFI on modern TIV engines, here’s your chance to hop on the
bandwagon and retrofit a RAT SDS engine management system onto your
current or future RAT engine or RAT kit-based engine. Our fuel injection
kits are 100% complete and ready to bolt on for maximum performance with
minimum fuss. DYNO PROVEN POWER! All our kits are designed to work
especially with the VW/Porsche Type 4 engine and we offer a modified
version for the vintage Porsche 616 engine (356/912). These systems are
not arranged or optimized for Type I engines and we cannot supply kits
for customers with Type I engine foundations.
How is it for power?
In the world of performance engines, timing is everything. With EFI
you’ll benefit from all the right things inside your engine happening at
the right times. This provides more power at lower RPM and really helps
with drivability and tractability in town. While most power benefits are
most notable at lower revs up to and just past peak torque overall peak
HP numbers are also complimented with the installation of an efficient,
modern FI system like ours. With EFI you now have control over the
entire engines powerband for tunability, unlike with carburetors that
typically have only low speed and high speed adjustments, often leaving
the most important part of the powerband incapable of being optimized.
Plain and simple, EFI makes for a more high performance engine- Period.
All kits include: EVERYTHING NEEDED for installation! This includes 60
GPH Mallory Fuel Pump, Mallory Billet Fuel Pressure regulator, 5 micron
steel bodied high-pressure fuel filter, Goodyear (or similar)
high-pressure fuel line, non-FI fuel tank retrofit fittings, wiring
harness, computer, handheld/backlit programmer (no laptop required!) ,
30# Bosch injectors, Bosch 4-wire heated o2 sensor with weld-in bung,
dual 48mm throttle bodies with TPS, fuel rails, manifolds, air cleaners,
linkage, and any miscellaneous fittings, clamps, and connectors required
to install the RAT engine management system on your MassIVe Type 4, up
to 250 HP! Also available for Porsche 356, and Porsche 912 up to 200HP.
We recommend using one of our Mallory Unilite distributors with this
system, as the RAT EMS does not provide ignition control, for ease of
installation, tuning and configuration with no guesswork.
Now the good stuff: We’ve chosen a system that is easy to set up and
program, with a very small learning curve. Hell, the manual can be read
cover to cover in under an hour. Read it a few times, and you’ll be a
pro.
Having tuned fuel injection with a laptop and separate LM-1 handheld o2
air fuel gauge, our solution is a far superior one. The rugged and
durable handheld programmer is small enough to fit in your glove box and
with the provided o2 sensor installed, the programmer stores an air fuel
mixture ratio for every point in the fuel map, allowing for quick and
easy tuning for either maximum power or fuel economy, or a sensible
compromise between the two. There’s even an analog tuning module that
plugs in that allows you to dial your “richness” without even touching
the programmer, to simplify the initial startup so that you can get the
engine idling on it’s own in just a few minutes. This same module let’s
you feel differences between different air fuel mixtures, so you don’t
have to commit to 12:1 or 13.8:1 until you can see it’s effects on
performance and engine operation (like head temperature, etc). Real
handy, no?
Best yet, the hardest part of doing fuel injection yourself is having to
do it yourself, and with the RAT EMS, you have a support network that
has you covered. On top of unlimited email support for 90 days after
your purchase, you get one hour of phone support to help you through
those hang-ups and tuning issues you just can’t iron out, if you need
more support it can be purchased for minimal cost per ½ hour. And just
like our DTM systems, you will receive a VHS or DVD that will walk you
through every step of the installation from A to Z. What more can you
ask?
Our goal with this EMS system was to create a simple, easy to install
and fun to tune arrangement and to provide all the parts in a known
“Kit”
especially for the Type 4 engine. If you choose this system you’ll
benefit from the same system that’s installed on all of Jake’s personal
vehicles including the “MassIVe 3 liter” , The “Hybrid Annihilator 2316”
and the “Super 2 liter plus” 2016cc RAT R&D engine that’s working toward
a 50MPG fuel efficiency while making 110+ HP with a flat torque curve!
