"With respect to my racing background. Its really not all that spectacular. Started out years ago in PCA drivers ed with my 1971 911T. As years went by and my earnings capacity grew,I decided to pursue my dream of doing some actual racing. In 1992 I attended my first SCCA drivers schools. The first one took place at Sears Point,CA were I rented a 914 from Vic Rice. I came back home and attented my second school @Pocono in my ITA prepared 914-4. After several years and realizing that ITA was the wrong class for a fuel injected 914, I decided to go production racing. I found a E prod 914 for sale . I met the seller and bought the car @ Mid-Ohio during the 1994 Runoffs. Started racing in E prod in the notheast division. The car was not up to the task in E prod against such cars as Lotus's,Miatas ,240Z's etc.Luckily the SCCA also realized the same thing and put us back to F prod.We could now see some light at the end of the tunnel.Went to the Runoffs several times and each time experienced some sort of mechanical difficulty. Finally in 2002 I put it all together. I won 4 out of 5 national races went to the runoffs and qualified 9th. About 10 laps into the race and at the time in front of the two FiatX19'swhich eventualy finished 4th and 5th, "Murphy" again reared his ugly head and I experienced a spark plug failure. I finished the race on 3 cylinders around 15th.Went to 2003 Runoffs were I burned a hole in two pistons during practce. With no back up motor I sent home for some relacement parts rebuilt the motor in the padock(with help from some guys who turned out to be your customers). In 2004 went to my first national and promptly threw a counter weight throiugh the engine case. With my backup motor no where near completion I threw in the towel for the season. With my level of frustration at an all time high thats when I decided to contact you for some help. I had seen your web site and was impressed with what you were doing with the Type IV motor. As you discovered, the parts and pieces I was using were high quality, they had just not been assembled as a cohesive unit. With your expertise I'm hoping to eliminate the "Murphy" syndrome. I'm convinced that a properly prepared 914 can challenge for a Runoffs victory. I've not mentioned my involvement in PCA racing which I've also been doing for about 10 years. While I enjoy all my time at the racetrack, my heart is in SCCA racing . PCA is great seat time but I just don"t get as excited. Racing against all sorts of different cars while grasping for the "brass ring" is my preferred venue." Thomas Burge
